Dropshipping has been around for quite some time and shows no signs of disappearing. If you’ve ever wanted to make money without the stress of managing inventory and are wondering whether it’s worth pursuing, here are some reasons to consider:


What is Dropshipping?

Dropshipping is a business model that allows you to run an online store without holding any inventory. With minimal upfront investment, you can set up an online store where customers place orders. When a purchase is made, you forward the order to your supplier, who then ships the product directly to your customer. You never physically handle the product. Your profit comes from the difference between the price you pay the supplier and the price you charge your customers.

Everyone is considering dropshipping, so it must have some advantages. Let’s look at a few reasons why it’s still beneficial today:

While these advantages make dropshipping attractive, there are also some challenges you should be aware of to succeed:

  • Finding High-Demand Products:** It can be time-consuming and difficult to find products that are in high demand.

  • Relying on Suppliers: Finding quality suppliers and depending on them can be tricky.

Researching a product to sell can be done effectively using TikTok Ads. This method allows you to see which products are currently trending and performing well in the market. Here’s how:


  • Go to TikTok for Business: Visit TikTok for Business website.

  • Navigate to Resources: Click on the "Resources" tab.

  • Access the Creative Center: Here, you can explore top-performing ads.

  • Filter Ads: To find the best products, filter by objectives such as “conversions” and “product sales.”


Finding Reliable Suppliers

Your supplier is a crucial part of your dropshipping business. It's important to have multiple suppliers to avoid dependency on just one, which could lead to issues in the future. There are two main types of suppliers:


Retail Suppliers: These suppliers don’t need middlemen to connect with you and can be found easily. Examples include AliExpress, Amazon, and Walmart. However, not all are dropshipping-friendly. They offer a wide range of products that you can resell.


Private Suppliers; These suppliers offer unique products that may not be available through retail suppliers. Combining retail and private suppliers can provide a broader range of products and a competitive edge.

When selecting suppliers, there are specific qualities to look for to ensure smooth and reliable transactions:


Global Warehouses: Choose suppliers with warehouses in various locations. This allows you to target different markets without the need to be physically present in those areas.

Quick Delivery Schedules: Suppliers who can ship products quickly are important for maintaining customer satisfaction.

Return and Replacement Policies: Look for suppliers with clear and fair return and replacement policies.

Customer Service: Suppliers with excellent customer service can give you insight into how well your customers will be treated.

Wide Product Range: Opt for suppliers that offer a broad range of products, allowing you to diversify your offerings and appeal to more customers.

Accessing the Shopify App Store:

  • Log in to your Shopify dashboard

  • Navigate to the "Settings" tab

  • Click on "Apps and Sales Channels"

  • From there, click on "Shopify App Store"


Installing AutoDS:

  • In the Shopify App Store, search for "AutoDS".

  • Download the AutoDS dropshipping application.

  • Note that AutoDS doesn’t offer a free version, but it does provide a 14-day free trial.

  • Install the application and enter your payment details. You won’t be charged until the trial period ends, giving you two weeks to explore and understand how it works.


Creating an AutoDS Account:

  • Go ahead and create an account on AutoDS. The process is straightforward—just provide your email address and basic information, like your name and billing details.

  • After filling in the information, AutoDS will add your subscription. Approve it to proceed.


Linking AutoDS to Your Shopify Store:

  • Your Shopify store should automatically link to AutoDS after you approve the subscription.

  • If your store doesn’t link automatically, navigate to the top left corner of AutoDS and select "Add Store".

  • You’ll see an option that says, “I have a Shopify store—connect it to AutoDS.” Click on that option, then click "Continue".

By following these steps, you’ll have AutoDS seamlessly integrated with your Shopify store, ready to help you manage your dropshipping business more efficiently.


Product Sourcing

Now, let's move on to product sourcing with AutoDS. Start by navigating to the "Marketplace", where you'll discover a variety of new arrivals like toys, home products, and back-to-school items. There are countless products to choose from, but with AutoDS, you have a winning advantage. The "TikTok Spy" integration gives you access to exclusive products that are currently trending and proving successful for dropshipping. This tool helps you identify what's popular on TikTok, guiding your product selection and increasing your chances of success. Additionally, AutoDS offers a "Print on Demand" section where you can create customized items. Here, you can select printing techniques, sizes, and colors to personalize products for your customers.


To get started with finding your product in the marketplace, select the country you want to ship from and the one you want to ship to. For example, if you're targeting a U.S.-based audience, select the U.S. in the “ships to” option. Carefully fill out the rest of the information according to your preferences, including your currency, price range, and supplier.


After filling in this information, carefully select your product. Be sure to read the product information specifications thoroughly. If everything looks good, you can import the draft, which will be reflected in your store. The draft will be uploaded to be shipped to your chosen warehouse. Keep in mind that sometimes your product may not be shipped directly to your customer. For example, if Amazon is your supplier, once you add the product to your store, it will be shipped directly from the Amazon warehouse since Amazon handles the fulfillment of the products they supply. Once the product is visible in your store, you can edit it, increase the profit margin, and even customize the product as needed.
